[New Mix] Here are some fresh sweet sounds put together by the seductive PillowTalk trio for the Louche Music Podcast series.
San Franciscan trio PillowTalk dish out this weeks mix; a sublime hour long work out which perfectly showcases their wonderfully unique sound. Sammy D, Ryan Williams and Michael Tello’s fusion of classic underground house along with modern RnB and boogie flexes all began by jamming around a baby grand piano in a kitchen about a year ago, and now can be heard on labels such as Wolf + Lamb, Life and Death, and Visionquest. Their alluring and charming pop-dance songs are inspired by anyone from the Beach Boys to Larry Heard, and we just can’t get enough of them. This podcast is class from start to finish; an absolutely essential listen.

[Party] Set off of the beaten path in the Mission Hills area of San Diego for twelve years, Bar Dynamite Wednesdays came about when co-owners/DJ’s Ryan Bauer (Lil’ Ryan) and Duane Mellor (in collaboration with Phil Aye and Jon Wesley) decided to create a house music night that was far from main stream. According to Duane, he and Ryan “wanted to give house music lovers a place with character…more of a destination place.”
So far, their destination place has created 693 consecutive Wednesday night parties to date, showcasing deep house, as well as techno, soul, disco, re-edits and more. They have featured local and southern California DJ favorites, as well as talent from all over the country and world, such as Franck Roger, Justin Harris (The Freaks), DJ Sneak, Glenn Underground and Tom Middleton (UK), to name a few.
Recently, Wednesday nights at Bar Dynamite have been re-launched as Dance Klassique, to showcase new cutting edge DJ’s, as well as old school talent. The night still offers no cover charge and house beats provided by DJ Duane, Lil Ryan, and resident DJ’s Ivan Gregory and Andy Gomez. Catering towards introducing newer types of organic deep house music versus mainstream electronic, Ryan describes Dance Klassique Wednesdays as “the past, present and future of house music.”
Additionally, plans to offer a mix CD compilation of DK Wednesdays are in the works, as well as a record label.

To commemorate twelve years of successful events, Bar D is celebrating their anniversary on February 22, hosted by Jimbo James of OutLife and Lovelife. Firing up the decks with sets by resident DJ’s Andy Gomez, Duane and Lil Ryan, the night will complete with world-renowned DJ Garth (Wicked/Grayhound –SF).
