[Forthcoming Release] Jordan Peak – Missdemeanours EP (Klasse Recordings)

[Forthcoming Release] Out at the end of the month on Berlin based label Klasse Recordings is Jordan Peak‘s new EP, Missdemeanours. For all you Lovers out there that like to keep it deep, dark, and groovy, Missdemeanours is 15 minutes of pure heaven. “Move With It” serves up a good dose of bass that’ll keep your head bobbing and feet moving. And with a remix courtesy of Huxley, these two tracks alone could keep you dancing until daylight.

However, it’s the title track that really shines on this EP. It starts off upbeat enough but quickly brings you right back down to the deep. As the song progresses it becomes evident that this is the kind of music that should never be played while the sun is out and really, isn’t that the best kind of music?

Missdemeanours comes out April 30 but you can pre-order both digital and vinyl now.

[New Release] Manuel Tur – Back to Me EP (Freerange Records)

[New Release] Manuel Tur releases his Back to Me EP on Freerange Records as a precursor to his forthcoming album Swans Reflecting Elephants, out April 23rd.  The hollow percussion groove and naked electric piano are bountifully filled by a warm synth and saddened melodic bassline that, along with a spacey female vocal sample, coalesce into an imbuing, breathing work on the first track, “Back to Me.”  Jimpster remixes, deepening and energizing the bass, cooling the synth and adding more frequent, echoing elements to vitalize the title track’s movement. This new, invigorated pace sets the tone for the rest of the release, as “Obsidian” and Damiano von Erckerts Raw Dance Mix of that track finish the work off with an impressive intensity.  The Raw Dance Mix is indeed raw–stripped back and with a much more engaged percussive line than the other tracks, which breath and open up significantly, will fervently penetrate a disco-dancer’s technosoul. Pure and simple a beautiful and moving release, add this one to your collection and be moved disco dancers.

[Forthcoming Release] Dexter Kane — Future Retro EP (Lower East)

[Forthcoming Release]  If you’re looking for something unconventional, yet strangely familiar, check out Dexter Kane’s perfectly titled “Future Retro EP,” out April 2nd on Lower East. Truly a little future and a little retro, this release ingests classic keys, synths, and vocal samples to somehow expel a fresh and unique feel-good sound. The basslines in particular are en vogue: booming, deep, and leading the tracks. “Three and In,” the closer of the EP, is simply catchy and appropriate for anytime the party needs a little more energy–particular as the smooth, jazzy pads sneak in to uplift any disco dancer.

[New Release] Nitin — Latenightlife Remixed (My Favorite Robot Records)

[New Release] Here come a slew of remixes of Nitin’s slow and steady Latenightlife EP released by My Favorite Robot Records almost a year ago. These new takes are hot for the dancefloor, freshening up the originals’ grooves. You can imagine the kick in Brett Johnson’s For Steppers Only Remix of “The Nine In One” ushering a party into the prime-time dance hours, its beat livening up party-goers’ feet. Anthony Collins heavily deepens “Blink Twice” but re-energizes it with the light, untouched e-piano and 80s-like pop percussion groove. Its flyaway breaks and fluttery accents make it an excellent intro to a heavy-hitting track. If you’re really looking to get moving, the gem of this release is Subb-An’s remix of “The Nine In One.” Single vocal sample, bass, repetitive but innovative, miscellaneous elemental reverbs, and that low kick—the groove is truly addictive.
