Rod Brito returns to his RED ROOM imprint with a fresh new single, ‘Feel My Arp’, following a string of EPs on the label supported by artists like Jixo & Danz, Animal Trainer, AMÉMÉ, and many more. The aptly named ‘Feel My Arp’ by Brito comes at a crossroads for RED ROOM, which continues to build on its roots in Melodic House & Techno in this release by exploring wild Italo-fuelled arpeggios.

Hi Rod Brito, welcome to Music Is 4 Lovers. How are you today?

Hello, I’m good, thank you for asking. I’m happy to share with you some news about my career and the Red Room. I’m looking forward to my release ‘Feel My Arp’, it’s the beginning of a new season!

Can you share your journey into the music scene with us? What initially inspired you to become a DJ and eventually a label boss?

I have been passionate about electronic music since the 90s and have experienced some cycles of the scene over the past years. Music has always been something natural and intuitive in my life, and becoming a DJ was a consequence of that. In Brazil, I had the opportunity to perform in different cities, from local clubs to the most paradisiacal festivals. Mykonos, Tulum, and Black Rock City are also special places where I was able to take my music and connect with people who share the same passion for electronic music.

Red Room is the result of this combo. We saw an opportunity for transformation in Belo Horizonte, bringing innovative experiences that align the concepts of music, art, and technology for electronic music lovers. In a short time, we released the record label, driven by the need to export our artists’ productions to the entire world and communicate through the language we know: music.

How do you see your sound evolving as you progress in your career? Are there any specific influences or directions that are currently shaping your music?

What we’re seeing today with the growth of Afro and Melodic House are cycles that we experienced years ago, such as when Deep House had a huge rise and brought a new era of label parties on rooftops and intimate dance floors – along with the drop in BPMs in the sets of many electronic music players. I believe that music is cyclical, and this influences every aspect of the lifestyle it encompasses.

I identify a lot with House Music in a timeless way, and I try to bring influences from everything I experience. From the trips I take, aspects of my daily routine, and, of course, the experiences I have on the dance floor. I seek to bring my avant-garde roots, the sounds that have influenced me over the years, into my productions and sets, while also keeping the freshness of something modern and different.

Tell us about your latest track. What was the inspiration behind it, and how does it fit within your overall body of work?

‘Feel My Arp’ emerged as a track dedicated to the dance floor, what we call a ‘DJ Tool.’ It is a song that plays with the parameters of the synthesizer’s arpeggiator, provoking great reactions on the dance floor, and it ended up becoming a powerful track in my sets. Despite being relatively simple, it makes people remember my performance at a club or festival. ‘Feel My Arp’ marks a new musical season for me as an artist, experimenting with new electronic textures in the studio while also expanding the Red Room’s range to welcome new sounds.

Who are the artists and musical genres that are currently inspiring you? How are they influencing the tracks you’re producing or mixing?

Solomun, for his longevity and mastery. Oliver Koletzki, for the soul he infuses into his compositions. Pachanga Boys, for their versatility and energy. Claude VonStroke, for his timeless contribution to music. And Green Velvet, for his incredible musical personality. I strive to incorporate elements of all these into my music and performances. These artists lead the dance floor like no others and radiate a genuine, authentic, timeless sonic signature. How can one not be inspired by these true ambassadors?
In what ways do you feel your music connects with your audience? Are there particular messages or emotions you aim to convey through your work?

Music is always connected to the world of art, fashion, design, architecture, and all these elements that shape people’s cultural behaviour. The DJ’s connection with the dance floor has always been and will always be a priority for me, as it is in that moment of nirvana that magic happens. Emotion must be aligned with the right moment; the DJ should have the sensitivity to read the crowd well, knowing when to introduce impactful moments and contribute to the experience of someone witnessing an artist perform. The main motto I always carry with me is: House Music is love! And that is the primary message I aim to spread through music.

Can you give us a sneak peek into your current studio projects? What can
listeners expect from your upcoming releases?

I’m very excited about the new releases. I am still road-testing and in the negotiation phase with other labels. But I can already say that I will centralise a good portion of my music through Red Room. All I can reveal at the moment is that the arsenal is large and there are many cards up my sleeve. I am preparing to present many tracks to the world, from original compositions to remixes of classics, that will evoke nostalgia in my sets through a new approach.

Lastly, as summer approaches, are there any particular festivals that you’re looking forward to?

Burning Man Festival, without a doubt! It’s one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve had the pleasure of participating for many years, both as an artist and as a spectator. And the closing parties at Circoloco in Ibiza are something unique and have an extraordinary energy. These are two of my biggest references as experiences that electronic music has provided in my life. Thank you for having me on M4IL <3
