[New Release] London’s Underbelly Records puts forth this offering by Italian quartet BHOO called Elastik Phone, featuring remix work by Matt Tolfrey & Sam Russo and Alex Arnout. BHOO’s original is a tech-house jam that leads the release with high-energy and prevalent percussion, while the two interpretive remixes exemplify the deeper side of house with droning chord progressions and chunky basslines.

[New Release] I’m not even sure where to begin with this latest release out today by Chicago’s Kate Simko and Leftroom label boss Matt Tolfrey–I’m lovestruck. The development of sound on these tracks is beyond some technical formula of dance music composition or arrangement. Each track is rooted in extraordinarily deep bass and kick, laying out in the first thirty seconds that this will be a heavy mover. A solid groove emerges as the trunk of the track, eventually organically developing into a thicket of branched out percussive elements and simple dream-like melodies. The beauty of The Same Page EP is that it doesn’t drag you through the music, it draws you into it. The effortless development of each sound to the next simply allows your mind and body to go no where else but up and into the music. Get lost in the other world procured by Simko and Tolfrey; you beautiful disco-dancers won’t want to leave this fantasy behind.

Interview with Matt Tolfrey:
Tell us a little about the Air London party and how you got involved?
I am on the Air London agency and this is one of our showcases that we throw out there from time to time. I love doing these as it shows a togetherness, a family feeling of what music we are offering.
[New Release] Off Recordings continues to bring the dancefloor slaying house we all crave by welcoming back the wonderful Chris Carrier for his 2nd EP on the label. The title track has some funky late 80s/early 90s, crowd pleasing sampling going on, and a ridiculous bassline that is sure to get feet moving. Matt Tolfrey and Sam Russo go in a completely opposite direction for the remix, stripping things down, and giving more of a late night feel to the track. Any disco lovers out there will be all over “Sweet Cookie,” which utilizes some truly awesome vocal snippets, and some crazy ass synths. Definitely a floor killer. Already support on this EP from Solomun, Jesse Rose, Homework, Nick Curly and more.
