[New Mix] Damian Lazarus – LazPod #24

[New Mix] Here is a twisted and bizarre (but very excellent) mix from the wizardly Damian Lazarus that will take you into other worlds.  A perfect wind down from the weekend, Mr. Lazarus says this mix should have you “taking off your clothes or dressing up in something strange.”  Sounds good to me.

[Video] Lovelife presents… Masquerade with Tale Of Us, Analog Bar, San Diego

[Video] Lovelife has been turning frowns upside-down since their abrupt emergence this past summer. In a city swamped by pop music clubs, Lovelife is the long-awaited fruit beckoned from a starving scene of San Diegan Lovers. Their unique promotional brand focuses on the innate things in life; peace, love, and lots and lots of sex! Delivering grade A talent like Danny Daze, Damian Lazarus, Subb-an, DJ T., Tanner Ross, Slow Hands, Lazaro Casanova, Superfreq with Mr.C, Tiger & Woods, and their most recent party with Tale Of Us. Tomorrow they’re celebrating their 10th gathering of Love with Boston super duo Soul Clap. Slowing down their swift ascendance toward the top doesn’t seem to be an viable option as future bookings include Wolf + Lamb, Lee Foss, and a spankalicious disco jam down in Tijuana, Mexico with Tiger & Woods live. Love music and Lovelife.

[Festival] The Parklife Weekender – Manchester, UK – June 9 & 10, 2012

[Festival] Without the music there’d be no party – without the party there’d be no music. It’s a beautiful full-circle relationship, and the flowers that blossom from it is what makes life worth living – for us anyway. Knowing how much hard work and dedication that goes into throwing one single party with one single headliner, the inkling thought of producing a two-day festival is arduous.

The Parklife Weekender in Manchester is another festival we must give props to. A two-day festival that takes place in the gorgeous setting of Platt Fields during the summer month of June. This year’s line-up is full of MI4L favorites: Art Department, Claude Von Stroke, Clive Henry, Com Truise, Dam Funk, Damian Lazarus, Danny Daze, De La Soul, Eats Everything, Heidi, Julio Bashmore, Maya Jane Coles, Miguel Campbell, Soul Clap, Subb-an, Tensnake, and Wolf + Lamb.

We applaude the promoters of this festival for the diligence and devotion necessary to produce such an amazing and intrinsic event. Big ups!

[News] Ultra Music Festival 2012 Lineup Announced – Includes “up-and-coming DJs”

[News] I received an email the other day with a press release from the Ultra Music Festival announcing their Phase I lineup. As the curious music lover I am, I checked out what the ever popular festival was offering this year. To my surprise, I found a few black sheep among the mainstream electronic music acts, appearing on day three of the festival. Reading through the press release, I found Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler described as the “up-and-coming” DJs of the festival in the same paragraph with announcements for David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto. I suppose a congratulations is in order for the “up-and-coming” DJs that made the festival this year and perhaps a lesson on the definition of “up-and-coming” is in order for Ultra’s press writers.

All in all, it’s apparent to me that if any of you are attending Ultra, it is Sunday, March 25th (Day 3) that is the day to peep the festival. Recommendations for Day 3 are Damian Lazarus, Art Department, Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones. There are some techno and tech-house acts that are certainly worthwhile as well.
