Ladies and gentleman, please join Four Sweaters at 9pm on May 25th, 2013, in an infamous location in the SOMA district of San Francisco, for an elegant night of debauchery, moments of slight mayhem, and really amazing music. For the second installment of the Four Sweaters project, we simply ask you to keep your ears wide open, and enjoy the musical stylings of one Claptone and Steve Huerta.

CLAPTONE. If you haven’t heard of him, you probably actually have. And if you really haven’t heard of him, or his music, it’s about time to get acquainted. Magically appearing onto the scene in late 2011, it was not until early 2012 with the release of “cream” on exploited records that his presence and capabilites became more known. Since then, he has had a slew of highly respected releases that have rocked charts and dance floors.

STEVE HUERTA is a young fellow from Los Angeles who is just absolutely killing it. With releases on petFood, Amadeus, and most recently, Dirt Crew, Steve has found a sound, and is ready to share it. People are noticing. For his age, Mr.Huerta has locked on to a groove that usually takes seasons to achieve, and is impossible to resist. Not only is the sound he shares inspiring and unique, the way he delivers it through clean, forward moving mixes turns the night into something really special.

While we ask you relax and enjoy the music, always keep your eye out, as mischief and mystery will be around every corner.

Supernature unleashes Tamer Malki‘s soulful mystery with the emotional four-track EP, Lifted. Tamer has been picking up well deserved international attention with his recent release, Change Your Mind, on Kindish (Get Physicals sister label). His sound is instinctive and current; it evokes a level of emotion that is both uplifting and grounding. You can hear his desert ancestry in-between the bass and claps, feeling its warmth in resonant melody.The word DEEP comes to mind when pounding this EP, but thats an understatement. Perhaps there are no words to communicate the primitive sounds the soul makes, luckily there is music for that, and Tamer Malki is speaking the enigmatic language of the heart in both Lifted and Steel Breeze.

AlexKid and Fabio Giannelli, serve up remixed variations that add a whole new dimension to an already seamless production.Lifted sweeps you off your feet, and dissolves the ground below, evoking images of an astral dream; your body effortlessly carried over villages and cities, over sand dunes and mountains, beckoned by far away drums and mysterious vocals by Alex Nazar. Tribal percussion, sonorous bass and well-paced snares only start the journey through an orchestra of discord and harmony which is the human experience. All a bit heady but deeply moving and incredibly danceable.

Fabio Giannelli, with 13 years of dance music experience and some summer hits also coming out of Get Physical and Steve Lawlers, Viva Warriors, brings to the Lifted remix a more techy sound and a quicker delivery of hefty bass, not forgoing the airy galactic elements of the original track. Fabio amplifies the discord bringing listeners to a level of restful unease which is perfectly timed and then placated by the tracks deep and alluring vocals. Steel Breeze, is possibly on the lighter side, with deep native bass sounds which meet the modern world in sonic alchemy. Kicking off with a deep melody and traveling bass, this tracks got undeniable rhythm and a sound that carries. Wafting guitar riffs laid over rain sticks and Tamers signature spaced sounds bring captivating notions of warm Balearic sunsets or even a midnight jungle rendezvous. Always blending dark with the light, the deep groovy bass could also easily take you through sunrise and into oblivion.

AlexKid, is renowned for his remixes from Nina Kraviz to Damian Lazarus. His collaborations with M.A.N.D.Y and home base at Watergate club in Berlin have made him an integral part of the Berlin music scene and he brings all that force to his Steel Breeze Tooldub Remix.Deep, resonant, sexy, mysterious, its hard to stop pushing play.

It was arguably Dusky’s Flo Jam release on Dogmatik that helped propel them to the lofty heights they are now enjoying, so it makes perfect sense for the EP to be revisited by a tasty selection of contemporary talents. The resulting remixes will be released in two parts – the first with versions by Mange Tout and Kris Wadsworth, the second from Laura Jones and James What.

Mange Tout turn in a woozy and drowsy melodic reworking of the EP title track ‘Flo Jam’ that is pinned around a very slow and purposeful, rubberised house kick. The original vocals lurk in there behind all sorts of psychedelic synth lines and it couldn’t be a more esoteric offering.

On the flip, Berlin based Get Physical associate Kris Wadsworth turns in a much moodier rework, this time of ‘Numerical’. It’s hugely sparse and slightly unsettling, with knocking on wood beats and a churning mechanical groove all growing ever more agitated as the track progresses with that usual Wadsworth élan.

The second part of the package sees Visionquest producer and House mistress Laura Jones tackle ‘Every Day’. She opts to layer in many wavy synth lines, which bring with them plenty of spiritual colour and hypnotic greatness without every straying to far from an infeg ctious house rhythm.

Finally, London producer and DJ James What gets the nod to reinterpret ‘Mystics’ and does so with a cool hand. His version is elongated and melodic, bubbling along and bristling with a subtle percussive energy that recalls the sorts of sounds that go down so well at DC: 10 on a Sunday afternoon.

The original EP certainly did some damage – and was yet another fine A&R stroke from the Dogmatik boss – and these remixes are likely to do just the same in the coming months.

This sampler features three brand new and exclusive tracks as taken from the forthcoming Crossing Wires 001 – Compiled and Mixed by My Favorite Robot which is due out June 10th. It features disco talent The Revenge, techno veteran Timo Mass and Robot member James Teej and offers a snapshot of the sounds this label has dealt in across more than 75 releases to date.

The first track from The Revenge might not be what you expect – instead of dazzling disco ‘Maia’ is a slice of kinetic pulsating house that ebbs and flows beautifully. Of course there is some devilish synth work buried between the beats to add some all important colour, too, and a restrained sense of epic-ness is never far away.

Next up is electronic legend Timo Maas with ‘Dancing For My Pleasure’, a bulbous techno track with quirky synth hooks and plenty of tension buried deep within. Sounding like a spaceship circling a desolate cityscape, the sounds full submerge you in a world far away from here.

Finally, famed vocalist and one third of My Favorite Robot, James Teej decides to slow things down in his ‘I Like To Clip’ track that swaggers back and forth in a lonely landscape with only icy melodic winkles and rising and falling keys for company. It’s unnerving but inviting, alien yet familiar, and combines the man’s usual strained vocal style with plenty of musical mystery.

Keep an eye out for the full mix will be available from June 10th 2013.

[Party]  It’s that time again, when everyone that loves our music congregates on top of the famous rooftop at the Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.  Culprit has made the Standard their summer home for over 4 years now and they are back for their second party of the season.  For this session they bring in 1/3 of the treacherous three that is Apollonia, Dan Ghencia.  This French man is known for his flawless technique and impeccable taste and always impresses on the decks.  In addition, they are having Hot Creations’ PBR Streetgang join the party, who are making their first Culprit debut. LA local talent and famous meme’s, Plastic Love, will be opening things up for what is sure to be another wonderful day in Southern California.  Culprit have put LA on the map as portal for dance music and if you have yet to experience these awesome parties, we recommend you do so!
