[Forthcoming Release] Guess What Crosstown Rebels 094 Is

[Forthcoming Release] Earlier this week we reported about Jamie Jones’ upcoming second album, Tracks from the Crypt. Yesterday Crosstown Rebels posted previews of Jones’ first single from the album, titled “Our Time In Liberty,” on their Soundcloud. The distinct synth-stab melody, Kenny Glasgow’s vocals and staple, heavy Crosstown bass generate a uniquely energizing track, that will surely be played out (and already has been played) extensively by the Rebel crew by the time it is released April 10th. The real highlight here, however, is Russ Yallop remix in which the elements are significantly lightened while keeping the bass heavy and grounded giving an enchanting and more dreamy effect to the original track.  Collaborating here with superstar duo Art Department, Jamie Jones is sure to escalate further up the ranks of legendary with this release and those to follow on the album.

[New Release] Shadow Child – Shadow Child EP (Dirtybird)

[New Release] For a while it was quite a mystery who Shadow Child was, although some name drops on Twitter by various artists gave a hint or two.  Today Shadow Child, aka Dave Spoon, lends his latest EP as Dirtybird’s first artist release of 2012. (Their extensive Hatched compilation series dropped in January, but the Shadow Child EP will be the first original for the label this year.). An acutely far cry from the likes of “At Night” or any of his Toolroom Knights associations, Shadow Child produces that West Coast booty bass like a San Fran native and the self-titled EP exudes what will undoubtedly become a staple at this summer’s parties. Already receiving lots of support from the likes of Eats Everything (check it on his BBC1 Essential Mix) and the boss man himself, Claude Von Stroke, make sure you disco-dancers take a listen to Spoon’s untamed alter ego.

[The Scoop] Jamie Jones Readies New Album for June Release

[The Scoop] Jamie Jones is set to release a new album in June, according to Resident Advisor.  The album won’t be the debut platform for all its tracks, as works such as “Paradise,” which has already received play at parties, will reportedly be included. The album, titled Tracks from the Crypt, is slated to come out on Crosstown Rebels, following in the footsteps of his full-length, 2009 debut Don’t You Remember the Future.  Given the Hot Creation boss’s track record (literally and figuratively), there’s no doubt that you should be ecstatic for this come summertime.

[Event Review] Droog & Jamie Jones at Beyond Wonderland PreParty, Dim Mak, Hollywood

[Party] Droog and Jamie Jones brought the house down last night at Dim Mak Studios in Hollywood.  Droog kept it deep and sexy, a perfect set up for Jamie Jones’ darker and harder set. Predictably, there was a slew of Hot Creations and Crosstown Rebel releases on the bill, with those signature heavy basslines and catchy, turn-me-on vocals. Jamie Jones’ infectious energy pumped the crowd up more with each track, putting forth the real treats in the last hour of his set with some harder, driving tech house. And even at 3:30 am, after dancing for hours, it was impossible to stop moving your feet. Definitely big ups to Insomniac for booking this act for their Beyond Wonderland preparty, because house music doesn’t come much better than this.
