Interview with Beatamines

How did you first get introduced to underground dance music?
I had the first contact with Underground dance music approx. in 2006, this was a party in a former swimming-pool. At that time I was booked with my break dance crew to this crazy Venue. Also the legendary Wighgnomy Brothers had a gig there and I had heard before still such a music on party. I must say in addition I have dived very late into the House / Techno cosmos. Before was Hip Hop my world. But this vibe that came up at the said party fascinated me. Due to various circumstances, I could no longer practice my passion break dance and I began to be interested in electronic music.

What has been the most exciting turning point of your career so far? At the beginning it was my Longplayer “In Motion” on Damm Records (2010). This was the first time I was able to draw attention to myself. But the real knot has ripped through “How Never / Something Soul” on Keno Records. Suddenly, booking requests came from all over Europe. And the track appeared in all major charts (Beatport, Decks.de and many more).

Where is your home base? If someone were visiting there for the first time, what clubs and/or parties and/or restaurants would they want to check out?
I live with my family in Magdeburg. It is a beautiful city right in the middle of Germany. By train or by car you are very fast in Berlin. There is not a big club landscape here (compared to Berlin & co) but the clubs there are very hard to create special nights. I would like to recommend the following clubs: Kunstkantine, Insel der Jugend, Geheimclub and Club Epic in the middle of the city center. In Magdeburg there are many great possibilities for eating and drinking. From traditional German cuisine to sushi or tapas, every palate can be happy here. I personally like the tapas bar “Berner & Brown”. The food is fantastic and the wine service highly recommended.

What advice would you give to an aspiring producer?
Know your equipment. Do everything with passion. Have a whole long breath. Get realistic goals and work them step by step.

What’s on the horizon for Beatamines the remainder in 2017?
In June, my “Osiris EP” appears on Lauter Unfug, this release includes 2 remixes of Township Rebellion and Riven. In the summer I release an EP with my mate Mattia Pompeo on my Label Ahoi Audio. I am currently working on an EP together with David Hasert from Cologne. And of course, there will be some remixes: Time Has Changed, Einmusika Recordings and Lauter Unfug from me. Waiting there was something else, oh and a sample library for Loopmasters may I make.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music?
Yes of course. I love to swing the cooking spoon in the kitchen. When cooking I can also be wonderfully creative. I like graphics too. I am making the artwork for Moonbootica’s label “Moonbootique” since April 2017.

Dream gig…
Tomorrowland or in a Spaceship with the view of our Earth.

Name one of your go-to tracks…
Selecting current favorite tracks is difficult for me. I like all the Stuff from Ellum, Diynamic or Tronic.

Tell us about your mix…
The mix for you I have composed very Housey from the track selection. A mix of released and unreleased tracks. I recorded the mix in my Dj booth in my living room. I Hope you enjoy my mix as i do. 🙂

Drink of choice…
Water, Wine and a well cooled Gin Tonic.

CHEERS!
