Everyone’s favorite London based lycanthrope, Harry Wolfman, takes his second turn at House Of Disco Records with his new “Ulibis EP. With previous outings on the celebrated Dirt Crew label, as well as the ever on point Secret Reels… Wolfman as time and time again displayed his deft abilities of sample archaeology and manipulations. In previous, I’ve felt his efforts seemed more appropriate of bedroom listening or laid back lounging rather than shaking your tail feather at the club. With the “Ulibis EP,” such is not the case. Consisting of three original tracks, we get heavy, discernible grooves that are no doubt aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

Case in point: “Y’Sul’s Ball,” the perfect addition to your summer soundtrack. Taking up the interior of the A-side, things kick off with a nice, head noddin’ boom-bap as dubby vocals, filtered keys and crackling vinyl noise set the vibe. A short interlude of chords and arpeggios offers a quick respite from the groove before a chunky guitar riff, a la “Pick Up The Pieces,” and brutal horn riffs take us higher and higher. Throughout the track, we get a lovely push-and-pull between heavy funk and hazy, bittersweet vibes…a perfect builder to get the sweat glads pumping on your dancefloor.
