Yoshitoshi Recordings is of course the label that was set up in the 90s by the acclaimed house duo Deep Dish. Nowadays it is still going as strong as ever and next up is a fine five track EP from a selection of fresh artists. They all offer up variations on a nice house theme and the whole EP really excels as a result.

Up first is Bird Watching, a nice and organic deep house cut with flutes and bird calls and tumbling drums really sucking you in. It is fresh and clean and reminiscent of the best Deep Dish tracks. Also then comes from Solarc and is a more driving and peak time house cut with diving bass strokes and fiery hi hats. Nihil Young & Wolf Story’s Voice of Reason then drops back down into a subliminal and slithering deep house groove that is broody and moody and filled with dark late night energy. Rony Seikaly comes correct with Should I Stay next, and it is a tense tech number with loose tin pot percussion, popping hits and warm synths all making for a colourful effect. Last of all My Check is by VASI and it rounds the EP out in weird and wonderful style with wonky synths spraying about the mix as chunky drums do their work below. All in all then a fine offering with lots to say for itself.
