With a slew of incredible EPs, compilations and remixes under his belt, the Vienna-based musician and producer, Sam Irl, delights us with his debut album, Raw Land, out on Munich’s very own Jazz & Milk Recordings. Delivering only the best jazz, soul, funk, latin, afro-beats and electronic, the LP thoroughly embodies the label’s signature flavor.
Get ready for twelve vibrant jams, full of soulful funk and bold vintage flair. Creating a 70’s-inspired feel with a medley of vinyl fragments, funky hardware samplers and lovely synth infusions, this album truly does not fail to impress. Encompassing an eclectic span of genres, yet still remaining beautifully cohesive, the album ranges from a delicious blend of broken beat, dub-influenced tunes, lively disco and deep house grooves. Irl’s strong jazz influence is distinctly present throughout the entire release; a direct reflection of his background in classical instruments. He began playing piano and organ in his early years and later moved onto jazz piano, music production and DJ’ing. Working as a producer and sound engineer for nearly a decade, it’s no wonder Raw Land brilliantly showcases Irl’s raw musical talents and wonderful groove-laden style, while promoting nothing but good vibes.
