Interview with Mennie:

Tell us about your H.A.P.P.Y. EP coming out next week on Exploited Ghetto. What’s it like being apart of the Exploited team?
Well, this is my second release for the Exploited crew and for the Ghetto series, as well! The “H.A.P.P.Y.” EP was inspired from the funky vibe to the darker and dub sonorities. Having the chance to release again for this crew is a big pleasure for me! The Exploited team is so strong — I could not ask more.

Where are you based now? What’s the local scene like there? What do you find inspirational about where you’re living?
I’m actually based in Florence, the heart of Chianti merged in the Tuscany countryside. I think the quiet of this place gives me the most inspiration! Regarding the local scene, Tuscany is no doubt one of the places in Italy that always has an eye on the underground; and this is demonstrated by the huge number of producers and underground labels in the area!

What is one thing that would make your musical career more successful? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
The million dollar question! I don’t think there is a real key for success in the underground scene, but creativity and good quality helps you stand out from the masses — this can bring you to another level. In five years I hope to have created a branded sound and something that can be considered ahead of it’s time and not just trendy.

What gig do you dream about?
For sure huge open air festivals are the dream of most DJs; although I have always loved the feeling of the very underground clubs in London. There is always a big connection with the dance floor and I love people really close to the DJ booth.

Name one track in your crate that gets the dance floor moving every time.
I always love to close my set with something really researched from the past and one of the best moving weapon is no doubt “Dance, Dance, Dance” by Nick Holder just to name one!

Tell us about your mix.
It’s approximately one hour of the music that I actually like to play and listen to. I think the connection of the tracks selected is the raw sound and the hard sampling taste.

Drink of choice…
Of course a good glass of red wine will drive you into the right feeling!

CHEERS!
