The arrival of yet another exceptional Midnight Riot release suggests that 2015 will see no letting up from the mighty ISM offshoot. Ever since they released their first VA packages around five years ago, the label has been responsible for supplying a large chunk of the inventory in our disco archives. Purely high-class nocturnal sex jams, reaching through genres like soul and R&B, bridging the gap to electrofunk & deep house.
Andres Astorga (Trujillo) continues to pick apart and reconstruct lust-fueled gems for his Rad N’ B EP. This four track bundle opens with one of the best versions yet of You’re Making Me High, followed by a smooth fix of Master Ace’s Postin’ High playing in subtle elements to set the mood. One of the standouts is a classic De La Soul number flipped into a low-key dubby burner. We already know Andres is no stranger to the slinky and mellow spaces of R&B (he showed off his mixing skills for The LoveBath episode VII) so it’s no surprise he impresses again with his latest work for the Riot squad.
