It’s beginning to feel like that time of the year again in LA. The skies clear up, the air is crisp, the sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. It’s winter…but not. And atop these lovely happenings, the HEAR series gets one year older. On Friday February 6th, the 6th Anniversary presented by Harmonic just-so-happens to feature several familiar players in the HEAR legacy, some old, some new.
Taking down his per-usual 4+ hour set – ROBAG WRUHME – with albums and releases on Pampa and Kompakt comes back to grace the Harmonic stage for a fourth time. Can’t get enough of this guy! After countless laurels spanning over his three decade career in electronica, he continues to push the boundaries in all corners of the spectrum of music. To start the year, amidst his world tour, MixMag debuted two of his remixes on Premiere; one off Flight Facilities ‘Two Bodies’, and one off Hundreds ‘Aftermath’. Both utter bombs. ‘The King Of Weird and Wonderful Techno’ strikes again. Every time Robag has graced the Harmonic stage with extended sets, he’s left the audience in a sheer aural frenzy. This year will be no different. We promise!
The lineup has yet another treat in store with one of the hottest new acts of 2014, RICOSHËI. Their debut single from last year ‘Perfect Like You’ (which TrndMusik recently ranked #1 in their “Top 100 Songs of 2014”, as well as Thump Magazine rating it #11 in a similar ranking) has awarded them spots on festival lineups across North America, including SXSW, Coachella, not to mention opening the entire Corona Capital festival, and closing the Palladia Stage at Lollapalooza. Earlier this month, they played the BPM LIVE showcase at Mamitas in Playa Del Carmen, and their latest EP ‘Ghosts’ just received a whopping 9/10 from a recent review from Ibiza Voice. Last month, their Cue: was published in the December edition of Mixmag, and they also performed the MixMag Lab LA the same month. With more remixes, EPs, and a full length album on the way this year, look forward to some fresh, innovative music from these guys. Spin Magazine may have been onto something last year when they listed these guys on the ‘Top 5 Artist to Watch Out For’!
Two more irreplaceable stalwarts of the Los Angeles scene will be joining in on the festivities, PLASTIC LOVE (Maheras + Bas) will be holding it down as they always do, with the first two releases of their Plastic Love label making waves amongst the record stores and press. These two have been djing, producing, and procuring parties all over Los Angeles for years, and are no strangers when it comes to rocking the party juuussttt right. Last but certainly not least is PATRICIO of The DO Lab, he has been holding it down on the decks in LA for 20+ years, and has conquered clubs and festivals all over North America & beyond! Not a weak link in this musical chain of selectors.
