We’ve probably all been cooped up indoors for more time than we can handle – as is often the case during the holiday season – and while we absolutely love spending precious time with family, the weekend is right around the corner.
Here are a few post-Christmas parties we recommend checking out, whether you’re in the beautiful California sun or the sweet New York snow.
New York City
Friday: Ryan Elliot (Ostgut Ton) & Troy Pierce (Items&Things) at Output
If I could teleport from California to NYC this weekend, this is the one spot I’d go out of all the incredible hoopla happening in the city that never sleeps. As far as label representation, Ostgut Ton and Items & Things are the tip top of both rarity and excellence by two of the best from those camps, Ryan Elliot and Troy Pierce. Techno, you are love and love, you are techno.
Monday: Francois K // Deep Space at Cielo
Legendary Francois K has been hosting this party since 2003, and it has been well known for its open-minded atmosphere, good vibes and, of course, great music. And with free entry before 11 PM, how could you go wrong?
Saturday: Midnight Operator (Wagon Repair | Berlin)Mathew & Nathan Jonson (LIVE), Kate Simko (Leftroom | UK), Ewan Pearson (Kompakt | UK), Bells & Whistles (AYLI | SF) at Public Works
Tickets to As You Like It at Public Works
Talk about a stacked line up. It’ll be the San Francisco debut of brothers Mathew and Nathan Jonson aka Midnight Operator and if their Boiler Room is any indicator, you won’t want to miss this party for the world if you can help it. Besides, you’re getting some of the best talent in the world with the obscenely talented Kate Simko and Ewan Pearson, plus San Fran’s own immense act, Bells & Whistles.
Sunday: Miguel Migs, Lisa Shawn and Marques Wyatt at Sound Nightclub
Get your real house fix with Miguel Migs and Lisa Shaw on Sunday Funday. The party goes from 9 til late, so if you have Monday off, save your energy all weekend for this party.
Friday: Lee Reynolds, Marbs (Desert Hearts), Bendewish (LA), Dmitry Purple at Kava Lounge
The first installment of Tribalove took place over Thanksgiving weekend last month and featured rising LA talents Dance Spirit (aka Android Cartel’s newest moniker). I experienced the party personally, and I have to say, the vibe was amazing, welcoming and left everyone buzzing. Kava Lounge is a unique space that overwhelmingly welcomes art and exploration making it a perfect venue for such a special party. San Diegans should really check the brand new Tribalove partyline out – this could be a great new series for the city’s rapidly growing house/techno culture.
