It is so inspiring when releases tell a story-when they capture the mind and take it somewhere imaginative and fresh. This November, Axel Boman is ready to whisk us on an international escapade with his debut full length Family Vacation album on his own collaborative label Studio Barnhus.  The prominent Swedish artist has been featured on amazing imprints such as Hypercolour, Pampa and Pets Recordings since his breakthrough Holy Love EP in 2010, and played two entrancingly epic sets this summer at Croatia’s Garden Festival that I still rave about.

Light piano melodies introduce this sublime voyage with a beat that sails underwater right on south through a dark afro-jazz number, leading into a standout, key-laiden tropical buzz that soars through the clouds.  An eerie and organic melody follows, woven with raw strings and erratic layers onto some jazzy rhetoric that sways through a slomo zesty tune with sensual vibes sure to put hips in motion.

Some true soulful majesty takes over and blasts off through a bouncy revolving space case,  reflecting a summer haze onto the spellbinding “Barcelona,” entrancing us with euphoric percussion and twinkling chimes.

“Animal Lovers” drenches us with anticipation and mystique before a subtle throwback hip-house track rolls down through the boisterous “No! No! No! No!” then gallops like a horse off into the distance of a radiant sunset with an elated confidence after a gratifying musical journey.
