Antoine Garcin, aka Acumen, has put out tracks on labels like Get Physical and Diynamic. Now, he’s putting out his latest release on Leena Music, an off shoot of the Berlin-based Mobilee. With a legacy of great house, techno from artists like Catz N Dogs, Solomun, and H.O.S.H it is difficult for an artist to follow suit but Acumen fits right in with Mash.

A heavy and unrelenting release, Mash, cruises from one trippy track to the next – its highlight unveiling itself unforgivingly in “Internal Jungle.” The track is a perfect soundtrack to Burning Man or some other extraterrestrial party and is a beautifully produced work. Long, drawn out synths pull you from one emotion to the next, a revel-worthy delight as the bass drops you flat on the floor and kick-clap combos that can’t keep you still.

Title track, “Mash,” is equally as unrelenting but in the lightest and dreamiest of manners – it is a track made for the sunset or sunrise – and its sublime melody maintains its cloud-high drift.

The EP closes with two version of “The Bug,” an original featuring vocalist Ruede Hagelstein and a dub. The heavy plucks of bass push the track along while Ruede’s hypnotism maintains the overall otherworldly feel of the EP.

Keep a close eye on Acumen as he continues to release some not-to-miss tracks, including this Mash EP.
