Hot on the heels of the label’s first release, Fukai follows up with a new single from Mexican producers of the day Climbers, featuring the vocals of Cari Golden 2 who has also contributed to labels like Akbal recently – plus remixes from DashDot and Skeet.
Jay Blakk and Kiko Deal aka Climbers have shot to fame recently off the back of a great EP for Culprit, namely ‘2 Come Back’. And happily, the original version of ‘No Compromise’ is another sure-fire anthem in the making 2 built on a monstrous bassline that has a life of its own, the pervading background mood is one of intergalactic mystery, with searching synths spiralling in the background and nagging melodies disappearing off into the distance. Key to it all, though, is the added drama sultriness that comes from Cari Golden’s lush vocal tones as they bend and stretch over the oh so catchy bassline below.
Brazilian duo DashDot turn in the first remix and break it down into a rueful deep disco cut perfect for a terrace party come sun down. Their bass line has plenty of wiggle and swagger, swaying to and fro beneath poised and twinkly disco dust like percussion. The vocal here is sparingly used and takes on a more introspective character, confirming that DashDot have very much made the track their own.
The final remix comes from German producer Skeet aka Tobi Panzner who has so far remixed with impressive results on labels like Well Done. His version features some choppy, energetic percussion atop languid house beats. His synth stabs are both cute and propulsive whilst the airy vocal floats up top complementing the seductively sexy tempo and mood that exists from start to finish.
Fukai means ‘deep’ in Japanese and two releases in the label is staying true to its MO at the same time as offering up a fine selection of carefully hand picked remixers that add plenty to each package.
