Originally under the name Baalsaal, Suol records is an independent Berlin based record label founded and run by Chopstick and Johnjon. For the last five years, this intimate label has become a home to the likes of Daniel Bortz, Trickski, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Till Von Sein, and many others. Focused on releasing deep, emotionally charged organic music, Suol has definitely found itself as a staple in the German underground dance culture.
As our new creative outlet, we are dedicated to creating, supporting, and being a unique niche for everything from visual to aural art that we feel needs to be properly pushed, and further expressed. As a hub to express ourselves, and the community around us, we plan to propel the dance music culture in San Francisco, and beyond, through creatively planned and executed events that create a unique and inspiring experience that guests will never want to forget.
Daniel Bortz [SUOL, Crosstown Rebels] SF Debut
Playing 60+ global dates in 2012, producer/DJ Daniel Bortz took dance floors by storm. Known for very deep grooves and well-placed R&B samples, Daniel has been producing a versatile catalog of dance floor tunes for over 13 years.
Since 2007 he’s been hosting a monthly party in Augsburg, free of pretension and with crossover appeal to the masses. Releasing tracks on Munich’s, Pastamusik and as of late, Berlin label, Suol, Daniel Bortz continues to create slow- house gems, like the 2011 edit of James Blake’s Limit To Your Love. His sincerity as a producer and appreciation for all music will be channeled through a selection of edit-laced jams he’ll be dropping at his debut in San Francisco.
Chopstick & Johnjon (SUOL) SF Debut
The San Francisco debut of Chi-Thien Nguyen and John Muder, better known as Chopstick & Johnjon, will be well received by those expecting all night body-shaking tracks from these two Berlin-based producer/DJs. While on the Suol Records tour, they’ll be stopping at Monarch with a bag of tunes to help support the launch of Four Sweaters.
Bells & Whistles [Four Sweaters]
Bells & Whistles have been actively involved in the San Francisco house scene for quite some time. From their infamous DRESSCODE parties 21 floors up, to their basement monthly at 222, these boys know how to show you a goodtime. Now with a new project on their hands, Four Sweaters, there is no doubt they’ll be keeping your dancing shoes dirty. While Djing will always be at the heart of Bells & Whistles, it’s music creation, not performance that has been taking much of their recent time. Being able to create the sound they share is the main focus for the young duo.
Trev Campbell [SF]
